Lane Cove National Park (Sydney, Australia)

Locale:
Australia, NSW, Sydney.
Public transport:
Bus connections from Chatswood or Macquarie.  Chatswood has a train station (Macquarie's is not yet built).
Class:
National park.
Cost:
$6 park entry for vehicles, for which self-serve ticket machines are available.  Note that this is unenforced, except possibly by occasional inspections of parked cars, which are supposed to have the ticket displayed.
Distance: A couple of kilometres.
Surface:
Road (smoothly paved, two lanes).
Wildlife:
The main road is probably too noisy for wildlife, however the much lower, less utilised road running from the eastern entry (2) to a walking track (3) has many roadside lizards (and possibly a snake or two).
Gradient:
Rises near uniformly, east to west.  There is a flat at river-level in the eastern section.
Users:
The road is very popular for cyclists and joggers alike.  Also, watch for cars - this is the main road through the park.
Map:

The most frequently cycled route here, which is the only one I've tried, is a road that runs southeast to northwest on the southern side of the Lane Cove river.  It is very short and tame, being smoothly paved and originally intended for vehicles.  There is a gradient uphill from east to west (Chatswood to Macquarie), which is quite comfortable the whole way.  Halfway up (4) from the Chatswood-side (1), there is a turnoff to see some scribbly-gums, which I have never taken.  At the top of the road (5), you can either cycle under the Lane Cove Road bridge, then up a very steep incline to emerge on the other side of the road at (6), or straight up to the closer-side at (7), where cars enter the park.  At the southeastern end of the park, it is possible to cross to the other side of the river either by means of a causeway (1) or by exiting and re-entering the park (2).  On the northern side there is another relatively short, paved road (2), at the end of which (3) is a walking track.
